Mr. Abdulaziz AlTurki
Mr. Abdulaziz AlTurki is the Owner and Group Chairman of Rawabi Holding, one of the region's leading industrial players in construction and engineering, oil and gas, petrochemicals, utilities, power and electrical, telecommunications and IT, marine, trading and manufacturing. He is also the Chairman of Gulf Union Cooperative Insurance Company and the Gulf Union Insurance & Projects Management Holding Company.
Mr. AlTurki is a philanthropist and businessman whose gift to KAUST has been the first endowed research chair - The Rawabi Holding Research Chair in Solar and Voltaics Engineering.
Among many other positions, Mr. AlTurki formerly sat on the Board of Trustees and the International Board of Advisor’s at the Lebanese American University. He is actively involved in many philanthropic activities including being the Founder & Chairman of the Saudi Cancer Society, the Annual Charity Run, the Saudi Diabetes and Endocrine Association, the Saudi Charitable Foundation for Promoting Organ Donation in the Eastern Province "Eithar, and the Orphan Charity Organization "Bena".
Rawabi Holding has also been involved in many CSR programs, including Youth Empowerment, where the Company thrives to empower youth (aged 16-24) by encouraging them to identify their potential, assisting them in channeling their energies and providing them with the means for a bright and successful future through its Self-Discovery Program.
Moreover, Rawabi Holding has sponsored an MBA program at George Washington University.
Mr. AlTurki received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and his Master’s degree in International Business from George Washington University in 1970 and 1972, respectively. In 2012, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in "Humane Letters" from the Lebanese American University.
