Abstract: Efficient carrier-selective contacts and excellent surface passivation are essential for solar cells to reach high power conversion efficiencies. I will give an overview over different contacting strategies and discuss molybdenum oxide contacts for silicon solar cells and titanium oxide contacts for indium phosphide solar cells as well as recent trends in the field.

Biography: Corsin Battaglia received his PhD degree in solid-state physics from the Universite de Neuchatel, Switzerland in 2008. He was subsequently  postdoctoral researcher at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. From 2012 to 2014, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California at Berkeley and Lawerence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. Since 2014, he is head of laboratory at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA), Switzerland, where he is directing the Laboratory Materials for Energy Conversion, focusing on materials and device innovation for renewable energy conversion and storage technologies.
