Biography

Professor Alam, the Jai N. Gupta Distinguished Professor at Purdue University, has made many fundamental contributions to semiconductor device physics and technology. Formerly with Bell Laboratories, he's authored over 400 papers, ranking among the top 20 contributors in transistor technology, reliability, biosensors, and solar cells. A fellow of IEEE, APS, and AAAS, his awards include the 2006 IEEE Kiyo Tomiyasu Field Medal, 2015 SRC Technical Excellence Award, and the 2018 IEEE EDS Award for his exceptional contributions and mentorship. Dr. Alam's impact extends globally; over 500,000 students have benefited from his pioneering web-enabled courses.
