The "KAUST Research Conference: 3rd Generation photovoltaic technologies and beyond" to be held in the Auditorium between the Al-Jazri and Al-Kindi buildings (Level 0, between Bldgs. 4 and 5) aims to cover exciting developments in the field of 3rd generation PV technologies with primary emphasis on approaches for improving cell performance and manufacturing, while looking toward future technologies beyond classic photovoltaics. We aim to include contributions addressing recent developments in 3rd generation photovoltaics that will stimulate new cross-disciplinary research and collaborations, paving the way to a post-PV era. The conference will focus on three major themes:
- Novel materials and devices for 3rd generation PVs
- Manufacturing, upscaling and commercialization of PV technologies
- Technologies and concepts beyond PV
This conference explicitly brings scientists from different disciplines together, including Chemistry, Physics, and Material Science, who are spearheading their respective research areas, to share and discuss their latest discoveries with researchers, postdocs, and students at KAUST in an open, welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
The technical program will be held on Monday, February 11th and Tuesday, February 12th. The conference program will also include a focus session with short contributions from postdocs and PhD students and an evening poster presentation on Monday February 11th in the University Library.
Students are encouraged to attend a pre-conference workshop on Sunday, February 10th. This workshop will address the fundamentals of solar energy conversion, including the associated economics, and career development, e.g. science writing and career planning.
Conference Chairs: Professors Iain McCulloch and Thomas Anthopoulos
The event is organized by KAUST Solar Center (KSC) with financial support from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Office of Sponsored Research (OSR).
