Intellectual Property (IP) protection is essential to fostering innovation and creativity and knowledge is one of the principal economic assets and its management and protection have become the cornerstones of corporate strategy because ideas and innovation have become the principal drivers of economic growth and wealth creation in today’s Knowledge Economy. Patents are the primary form of IP protection so as to allow innovation to be promoted, captured, and put to use for the benefit of society. IP now accounts for a staggering 38.2% of total U.S. GDP and 30% of total national employment.
