Vladimir Michaelis

Biography

Vladimir Michaelis is currently an Associate Professor of Physical and Materials Chemistry at the University of Alberta. He completed his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Manitoba. After that, he worked as a Chemistry and Plasma Science and Fusion Department NSERC and Banting Postdoctoral Fellow at the Francis Bitter Magnet Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Later, in 2016, he joined the University of Alberta, where he is currently serving as a Canada Research Chair in Magnetic Resonance of Advanced Materials and the Director of the Chemistry Centre for Magnetic Resonance (C2MR) Facility. His area of expertise includes the ability to determine the atomic-level arrangement and movement of atoms within materials for energy capture and conversion to biomaterials for human health.
