As the Senior Research Director of the Energy Center at Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), I lead a team of experts in developing and adapting technologies that address Qatar's energy security and transition challenges, while advancing sustainable solutions for a net-zero carbon emissions scenario. With over 20 years of experience in global research, development, and innovation (R&D&I), I joined QEERI in 2018 with a strong background in industrial and applied research, technology transfer, and manufacturing.

 

In the past years, I have transformed the Energy Center from a purely academic unit into a market-driven, applied research hub, securing key strategic partnerships and positioning the center as the reference advisory institution at national at international level for energy and sustainability matters. I have also leveraged my expertise in patents and intellectual property management to create value and impact from our research outcomes. Prior to joining QEERI, I held senior positions at Solar Frontier in Japan, EDF in France, and NEXCIS, a start-up I co-founded. I am also an associate editor of the Journal of Renewable and Sustainable Energy and a member of several advisory boards. I am passionate about realizing the potential of renewable energy and empowering the next generation of researchers and innovators.
