KAUST Research Conference 2016: Emerging Concepts and Materials in Solar Energy Conversion

KAUST Research Conference: Emerging Concepts and Materials in Solar Energy Conversion is a cross-disciplinary conference on novel concepts and materials for photovoltaic, photochemical and photocatalytic energy conversion. The aim of the conference is to bring together scientists from different disciplines, including chemistry, physics and material science, who are at the forefront of their respective research areas to share and discuss their latest discoveries with researchers, postdoctoral fellows and students at KAUST. The conference focuses on emerging research topics of current interest, such as: i.) perovskite solar cells, and specifically new materials, device concepts and routes to address the stability issues; ii.) quantum-dot (QD) and advanced silicon solar cells; iii.) novel high-efficiency donor and non-fullerene acceptor materials for organic PV; and iv.) photocatalysis, and specifically water splitting and carbon dioxide sequestration and photochemical energy conversion.

A poster session on Monday, October 31 will allow postdoctoral fellows and students to present their work to the international community. The third day of the conference will feature short oral contributions from selected postdoctoral fellows and Ph.D. students. ACS-sponsored prizes for the best posters and oral contribution from a young scientist will be awarded on Wednesday. Finally, KICP Innovation Award will be awarded for the best presentation of a research project of significant market potential and industrial relevance.

The conference will also host an ACS on Campus event on Wednesday afternoon. This is the premier outreach initiative of the American Chemical Society. Join the world’s leaders in chemistry, publishing and research for two hours of special programming on the scholarly publishing process. You’ll learn 10 tips for preparing a successful manuscript, how to be a strong peer reviewer and tools for communicating your science effectively.

At ACS on Campus, you’ll hear from some of the brightest minds in chemistry and material science:

Dr. Jillian Buriak, editor-in-chief, Chemistry of Materials
Dr. Prashant V. Kamat, editor-in-chief, ACS Energy Letters
Dr. Kirk Schanze, editor-in-chief, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces
