The Photovoltaic Education (PVEd) Lab is designed to give new researchers a dedicated learning space to learn the fundamental solar characterization and spectroscopic techniques. The KSC's Summer Internship School takes place in this lab, as well as practical lessons for Masters Students.

Facilities

Cary 5000 UV-Vis-NIR Spectrophotometer

A high performance UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer. Using two light sources (Deuterium UV lamp and QI Vis lamp) on the excitation side and a photomultiplier tube and a PbS NIR detector on the detection side, it can measure the optical transmittance of thin-films and liquids in the extended photometric range 175 – 3300 nm.

Horiba FluoroMax 4 Spectrofluorometer

Steady-state emission spectrometer covering 200-850 nm spectral range with less than 0.1nm spectral resolution. The instrument is controlled by FluorEssenceTM software with Origin embedded for sophisticated data analysis.

BoTest LIV

The LIV from BoTest is a system for functionality testing of organic electronics. It establishes characterization data for OLEDs, OPVs, organic sensors, and other organic semiconductor devices.

Newport Oriel IQE-200

Permits simultaneous measurements of both the external quantum efficiency (EQE) and the internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of solar cells, detectors, or any photon-to-charge converting devices.

Lake Shore 8400 Series

This Hall Effect Measurement instrument can be used with DC field Hall measurement methodologies. The system includes fully integrated instrumentation, a magnet and power supply. Ideal for: Variable temperature measurements and mobilities from 1 to 106 cm2/V s. Maximum DC fields to 20 kG (10 kG for variable temperature). Standard resistance range of 0.5 mΩ to 10 MΩ. Temperatures from 10 K to 350 K
