Professor Bredas is a world-renowned scientist in the field of organic semiconductors and solar cells. The SPERC leadership will be further complemented by the arrival of Dr. Mark Vermeesch who will be joining as Managing Director of the Center. Professor Bredas sees a terrific future for SPERC: "Solar energy is a key technology which can be widely exploited in the Kingdom and the whole region. SPERC benefits from outstanding personnel and facilities, as well as interactions with many of the other KAUST Research Centers that offer complementary expertise. As such, it is an exciting time for SPERC as it has a remarkable opportunity to establish world-leading research activities in multiple facets of solar energy and engineering. There is much room for expansion and for collaboration with industry both in the Kingdom and elsewhere".
