KAUST Solar Future 2015 Symposium took place on November 7 – 11, 2015, at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. This event gathered international experts from the academic and industrial communities to share their vision for the energy sector and their most recent results in the field of solar energy conversion.
Three-and-half days with keynote presentations and networking opportunities made this symposium organized in the heart of the scientific and technology development in Saudi Arabia an exclusive event with worldwide impact. For the first time in this series of symposia, Solar Future 2015 combined both emerging and mature technologies, and covered a wider scope, including a specific industry session with the appreciated support of Innovation & Economic Development.
In addition to the three and a half days of invited presentations, we included an evening poster sessions organized by the SPERC, Graduate Council and Materials Research Society (MRS) Student Chapter. The poster session gave the opportunity for Students and Postdocs to extend their interactions with Faculty far beyond the program of overview presentations, and share their latest technical developments and breakthroughs in a relaxed and stimulating ambience.
A very significant amount of time was also dedicated to networking and discussions through important time slots, being coffee breaks and lunch or dinner time, where the opportunity was given to our student, postdocs and Faculty to meet and share their thought with the symposium guests.
On the last day of the symposium, the event came to an end with the lab tours to KAUST SPERC Lab, Core Lab, NEO and NOMADD.
Overall, the KAUST Solar Future 2015 Symposium has been a great success and the feedback received from external colleagues who participated in the event has been collectively positive.
